A couple of decades ago, ordinary people saw 3D printing as expensive entertainment. However, this technology now plays an extremely important role in production. The factories we knew have turned into giant high-precision 3D printer farms. These versatile machines create everything, from clothes and food to microchips and human organs.

The new factories are fully automated and autonomous. A customer pays for a purchase online and a request to print the item is immediately sent to the nearest factory. An available printer receives the signal, fulfills the order, and it is speedy delivered to the customer’s door by robot. And there you have it — a designer-tailored suit, the latest Space Edition holographone, or hot space nuggets.

By switching over to custom orders, factories have virtually ceased depending on large companies that in one way or another influenced revenue and capacity. The shift to serving individuals has also benefited the entire planet: companies now only produce what’s really needed, which eliminates the disposal of unwanted items.
